aect standards and alignment

The Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) has established five professional standards to guide instructional design and educational technology. These standards ensure educators and instructional designers use effective, research-based strategies to create impactful learning experiences. The five standards are:

  1. Content Knowledge: Understanding instructional design principles and the integration of technology to support learning.

  2. Content Pedagogy: Applying design strategies aligned with learning needs and content goals.

  3. Learning Environments: Creating inclusive, engaging environments through technology and pedagogy.

  4. Professional Knowledge and Skills: Encouraging reflection, ethical practice, collaboration, and continuous professional development.

  5. Research: Using and contributing to research to improve instructional design and outcomes.

These standards form the foundation for designing learner-centered experiences that enhance teaching and learning, as reflected in this portfolio.
