Description

     This artifact showcases an e-learning module designed using principles from E-Learning and the Science of Instruction (Clark & Mayer, 4th ed.), with a focus on the Modality Principle from Chapter 6.

​

     I used a storyboard to plan the module’s structure and flow, ensuring content was organized to reduce cognitive load. Formative and summative assessments were included to support learner progress and understanding.

The goal was to create an engaging, accessible learning experience grounded in strong instructional design and practical strategies that enhance comprehension and retention.

Relevance 

     This e-learning module, created with Articulate 360, demonstrates my alignment with AECT Standards 1a (Content Knowledge), 3a (Learning Environments), and 5a (Theoretical Practices). It showcases my ability to design engaging instructional materials using multimedia elements like fonts, colors, videos, images, and diagrams (1a).

     Built on principles from E-Learning and the Science of Instruction by Clark & Mayer, the module applies evidence-based strategies such as the Modality and Coherence Principles to manage cognitive load and support effective learning (3a, 5a). These research-backed practices ensure the content is clear, accessible, and grounded in sound instructional theory.

Reflection

     This project offered hands-on experience in designing an online module for adult learners, deepening my understanding of instructional strategies and engagement in digital learning. Sharing the module with educators for feedback provided valuable insights, helping refine the content to better meet learner needs and pedagogical standards.

     Formative and summative assessments enabled continuous learner evaluation and real-time feedback, supporting autonomy and aligning closely with learning objectives.

​

     The use of multimedia—videos, images, and diagrams—enhanced accessibility and comprehension, supporting diverse learning styles and reinforcing key concepts. Overall, the project strengthened my e-learning design skills and emphasized the value of a learner-centered approach.
