desmos- multidigit multiplication

Teacher preview of screens that are shown in the Desmos module to students.
description
This module was designed with 4th grade students in mind, giving them a fun and interactive way to practice multi-digit multiplication using strategies like the area model and ratio table. I created it using Desmos, which made it easy to build engaging activities that support students’ understanding of key math concepts. This allowed for immediate feedback and the chance to guide students as they worked through problems, helping to strengthen their understanding of the grade-level standard.

Relevance
Using Desmos for this module aligned with AECT Standards 4c, 2d, and 3c by enabling real-time assessment of student understanding. The ability to see students' responses instantly allowed me to adjust instruction and offer support as needed, creating a more responsive learning environment.

Desmos provided valuable insights into student engagement, helping me reflect on my teaching in real time (4c). It also supported content delivery and student progress tracking, allowing me to adapt instruction and reinforce key concepts effectively (2d). This real-time feedback made assessment more natural and responsive, benefiting both teaching and learning (3c).

reflection
I use Desmos regularly with my 4th grade students because it’s a great way for them to practice grade-level content in an interactive and efficient way. The platform makes it easy to incorporate technology into lessons while providing instant feedback to both the students and me. The real-time data from Desmos helps me quickly see where each student is excelling and where they might need extra support. With this information, I can create responsive small groups to focus on specific skills, ensuring that every student gets the help they need to succeed.
